In his fresh attack on the Centre, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that the PM Narendra Modi-led government has spoilt the budget of the country and of the common people in the country. Taking to Twitter, the former Congress president shared a news article which says, "Domestic LPG cylinder and petrol-diesel prices have surged due to inflation caused by the Union Budget 2021." "Modi government spoiled the budget of both country and home!" Gandhi tweeted (roughly translated from Hindi). Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party have been constant in their attacks on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre terming the Union Budget 'crony centric�.

Budget assault on farmers: Rahul

On Friday, Gandhi had said that the budget was another "assault" on farmers after the farm laws as they will have to spend more on petrol-diesel and no financial assistance will be given to them. "In Modi's crony-centric budget, farmers will have to pay more for petrol-diesel and no financial assistance will be given to them. After being crushed by the three anti-agriculture laws, another assault on the country's 'annadaatas'," Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi. Earlier, in another tweet, the former Congress chief said, "Modi's crony centric budget means - Jawans facing Chinese aggression in extreme conditions will get no support. India's defenders betrayed." Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had on Monday presented the budget for 2021-22 in the Lok Sabha from a tablet, instead of a conventional paper document, the first paperless budget since Independence. In his first reaction to the budget, Rahul Gandhi had alleged that the Modi government plans to handover the country's assets to crony capitalists.
