Human penises shrinking due to pollution: Scientist

27-03-2021

An environmental scientist has warned that human penises are shrinking due to the pollution which has been rising for the past few years. Due to the rising pollution, a growing number of babies are being born with small penises, the scientist has warned. Shanna Swan, in her new book titled 'Count Down', has said that humanity is facing an "existential crisis" in the fertility rates as human penises are shrinking and genitals becoming malfunctioned due to pollution, putting human reproduction in a challenging situation. This is happening as a result of phthalates. Phthalate is a chemical used when manufacturing plastics that impacts the hormone-producing endocrine system. Shanna Swan has attempted to examine "how our modern world is threatening sperm counts, altering male and female reproductive development, and imperiling the future of the human race". In her research, Shanna Swan examined that the phthalate syndrome and found that when fetuses were exposed to the chemical, they were likely to be born with shrunken genitals. Shanna Swan discovered that male human babies, exposed to the phthalates in the womb, had shorter anogenital distance something that correlated with penile volume. As Phthalate makes the plastic flexible, Shanna Swan pointed out that as it transmits into toys and foods, it harms human development by disrupting the natural production of hormones.
