The second wave of Covid-19 seen cases popping in abundance from all corners of India. While thousands of new cases are being reported every single day, some of the biggest cricketing celebrities have also come under its effect. After a number of retired stars including Sachin Tendulkar, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan and S Badrinath tested positive for Covid-19, current Indian women's team batter Harmanpreet Kaur has also reportedly caught the virus. Harmanpree is said to have displayed a few symptoms of the virus that saw the health department conduct a Covid-19 test. After finding out that she was positive, the hard-hitting batter was isolated in her Patiala home. Harmanpreet was on the field on March 17 as part of the ODI series against South Africa in Lucknow. She developed mild fever over the last four days and decided to get herself tested on Monday. The result of the test came out positive and since then, she has been isolating. "She is self-isolating at home. She got tested yesterday and the report came positive today morning. She had mild fever since four days so thought it was best to get tested. She is doing fine otherwise and should recover soon," a source close to the player told news agency PTI. "She was getting tested regularly during the South Africa series so she must have caught the virus after that only," the source added. Harmanpreet missed the recently-concluded T20I series between India and South Africa due to a hip-flexor injury. She had sustained the injury while batting in the 5th ODI against the Proteas. In her absence, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana had led the team. Harmanpreet looked in good touch as she hit a half-century and 40 in the ODI series but couldn't test herself in the shortest format. It wasn't a pleasant return to the cricketing circuit for India though as the Women in Blue lose both the ODI and the T20I series.
