A 47-year-old man riding a motorbike was killed after his throat was slit by the nylon string of a kite in Bhiwandi in Maharashtra's Thane district. The incident happened on the Balasaheb Thackeray flyover on the evening of the Makar Sakranti festival. Sanjay Hazare, a resident of Ulhasnagar, was riding on his bike when suddenly the nylon string of a kite got entangled around his neck and slit his throat. Sanjay then lost balance and fell from the bike and he died on the spot.According to the local citizens, several such incidents were reported where banned nylon manja became fatal for people. A young man named Rishi survived a similar accident, while Sanjay died.
