Aug 7, 2025: The scenic beauty of Ladakh will soon be promoted by Bollywood stars and social media influencers as part of a campaign to boost tourism in India’s northernmost Union Territory (UT).

The government of Ladakh is trying to find well-known Hindi film actors and social media personalities who are popular with young people all over the country. The idea of involving Bollywood celebrities in the tourism promotion campaign was recently proposed by Kavinder Gupta, the newly appointed Lieutenant Governor. He expressed his vision to establish Ladakh as a premier global travel destination.

During a recent meeting with tourism stakeholders in Ladakh, the L-G emphasised that the region’s breathtaking landscapes and picturesque views should be promoted extensively through social media. He suggested leveraging the popularity of film stars and influencers to attract attention, especially from younger demographics.

Ladakh is renowned not only for its natural beauty but also for its rich cultural heritage and potential for adventure tourism. All of these facets will be emphasized as part of an integrated promotional package, as planned by the administration. The Ladakh Tourism Department is also preparing to launch an advertising campaign aimed at attracting international tourists.

“Ladakh’s stunning landscapes, unique cultural identity, and adventure tourism opportunities make it a crown jewel of India’s tourism sector,” said an official present at the meeting.

The administration is currently shortlisting celebrities who can be roped in to promote tourism in the UT. “Social media influencers will be invited to visit Ladakh and tour key tourist and cultural sites. Some will also take part in activities related to adventure tourism. The goal is to showcase Ladakh across social media platforms and bring its beauty to every mobile screen,” the official added.
In the meantime, owners of hotels and guesthouses have urged the L-G to make the Ladakh Residence Certificate (LRC) a requirement for new establishment registration and to make the registration process simpler.
