Amid coronavirus scare, the authorities in Kashmir are battling with counterfeit hand sanitisers promising to help protect against the virus.

The authorities have sealed an industrial unit, Shah Industries at Zainakot Industrial Estate in Srinagar, for allegedly producing counterfeit hand sanitiser.

Officials of the Drugs and Food Control Organisation (DFCO) also sealed a refill unit in the Ganderbal district of J&K, where counterfeit sanitisers were being packed and supplied to market.

Acting on a complaint against distribution of counterfeit sanitiser, Fastizer, in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials raided a chemist shop at Fateh Kadal locality in Srinagar. Chemist shop owner had supplied Fastizer to SK Pharmaceuticals in Baramulla.
