The 21-year-old became the third Indian to register a score of 150 or more on their Test debut as he smashed a gritty 171 vs the West Indies. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had a record-breaking Test debut, broke down on the phone while talking to his father.
Jaiswal's father Bhupendra, who has a small paint shop in Bhadohi, revealed that Yashasvi called around 4:30 am after scoring his century on Day 2 and he couldn't hold back his tears.
'I cried too. It was a very emotional moment. He could not talk for a long time. He was tired. He just asked me 'Are you happy, father?' revealed his dad.

legendary Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh hailed Jaiswal for his batting masterclass against the hosts. However, the spin legend also observed that the debutant would be disappointed to have missed out on slamming a double ton on debut. “Yashasvi Jaiswal has had an impact straightaway in international cricket. Although he will be disappointed to have missed out on getting a double hundred, I feel we will see him play for India for a very long time. There's no shortage of talent and my advice to Jaiswal would be that work really hard because you have what it takes to conquer the world,” Harbhajan said.

Showering his praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal, India's batting coach Vikram Rathour said that the young Indian opener has the potential to play for India for the next ten years ahead of the second Test against West Indies.
