The poor maintenance of lifts in the National Capital Region (NCR) is again in the spotlight as an 8-year-old boy in Faridabad got stuck in the lift for about 2 hours on Sunday.
However, it was remarkable that he remained calm and remembered his father's teaching not to panic in emergencies. The boy just sat and waited and did his homework to distract himself before the rescue.
The family now started complaining to the authorities about the poor maintenance of lifts in society and took action.
The incident was reported by the Faridabad-based association Omaxe Heights and has now gone viral on social media. The child's father, Pawan Chandila, a Gurugram-based professional, revealed that their family lives on the fourth floor of an apartment building. The incident happened on Sunday evening when her son Garvit had to go down to study around 5 pm. Usually, the mother goes to surrender but she was not feeling well and went alone. Then the elevator got stuck on the second floor.
