The base temperatures in a few pieces of Kashmir have dipped under the - 3°C-mark as the virus wave clears the locale. Kashmir is as of now in the grasp of Chilla-I-Kalan, a 40-day brutal winter period when temperatures decrease significantly prompting freezing of waterbodies. Chilla-I-Kalan will end on January 31 and will be trailed by the 20-day Chilla-I-Khurd and the 10-day Chilla-I-Bachha.

The base temperature decreased to - 3.3°C on Wednesday night in Srinagar from Tuesday night's - 2.6°C.

The perceivability in Srinagar city and its connecting regions was under 50 meters for the second day because of thick haze. The vehicle division has given a warning for drivers in the city and named hazy circumstances the most terrible lately. Pahalgam in south Kashmir's Anantnag region recorded a base temperature of - 5.4°C.

However the haze has not impacted activities at the Srinagar global air terminal, flights showing up from different urban communities in north India are deferred because of terrible weather patterns there, as per the Air terminals Authority of India.
