Jammu and Kashmir is no less frightening than Rajasthan and Gujarat in the case of child deaths. In Ramnagar in Udhampur district, more than 200 children have died in the last two months in 10 districts of Jammu division along with 10 deaths due to unknown diseases.

In the state of Jammu's largest Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Jacha-Bachcha Hospital (SMGS), 122 children have died of various diseases in two months. Most of the children came here from other hospitals. Other districts have also died of children, but the Health Directorate does not have a confirmed record of the children who died.
