Hindi play on the emotional saga of armed forces ‘Mar Kar Jeena’ was staged here at Abhinav Theatre. The play marked the debut of noted Playwright Rakesh Roshan Bhat as Director.

The play not only cited martyrs and their martyrdom but it also highlighted the superficiality of short-lived love of common people towards them. It talks about the sufferings of the families of martyrs. The play is a story of two soldiers and best friends Capt.
Shivam and Major Puneet. Both of them have been martyred in a terrorist attack on an army camp. Their souls are wandering while awaiting emancipation around the memorial people have built at that site. Puneet’s soul is able to converse with his son Veer who comes to meet him daily at the memorial site. Their emancipation is possible only when they willingly wish to leave the world. But Puneet wants to stay put because he is able to see his son daily. And Shivam does not want to leave the world without Puneet. One day when Veer’s friend Vinod meets an accident and Veer is not in a position to go and meet Puneet, Puneet trades his boon to see his son once.
The final scene where Puneet visits his home to see his wife and son one last time and to bid goodbye to them is heart-wrenching.
In his very first show of the play and the maiden attempt at direction, Rakesh has created an impactful presentation. All the actors did a wonderful job notably Shazi Khan as Shivam, Puneet Bali as Puneet and Ishu Bharti as Veer. Other actors who also delivered well include King Bharti as Commandant, Himangini as Shivani and Suman as Dr. Riya. Kosar Chandpuri played the role of Vinod. Music was arranged by Rohit Bhat and costumes were managed by Bharti Koul. Rohit Bhat designed the play.

Others present were Major General Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, Major General Sunita Kapoor, Colonel J.P Singh, Colonel Kotwal, Colonel Joshi, Colonel Iqbal, Colonel Vijay Dutt, Colonel V.K. Sahi.
