India records lowest one-day count of 22,065 COVID-19 cases in over 5 months; tally crosses 99 lakh

India recorded lowest single-day spike of 22,065 fresh coronavirus cases in over five months, pushing the total tally to over 99.06 lakh. The death toll mounted to 1,43,709 after 354 new fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry this morning. The COVID-19 active caseload remained below four lakh for the eighth straight day. There are 3,39,820 active coronavirus infections in the country which constitute 3.43 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.
