Duke of Sussex Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir Spare, which is slated to be released next week, has created a major buzz online as several excerpts from the book have already been leaked in global media. According to an excerpt shared by People magazine, Prince Harry relived his mother Princess Diana’s final moments 10 years after her death by driving through the same tunnel in Paris where she met with the fatal accident. Prince Harry, in his book, has also claimed that his father King Charles did not hug him after revealing Diana died in a car crash. Prince Diana, King Charles’ first wife and mother of Prince Harry and Prince William, died in a car accident in 1997 in Paris. She was 36.According to an excerpt accessed by the publication, Prince Harry recounted the intense pain he felt while he drove through the aforementioned tunnel while attending the 2007 Rugby World Cup semifinal in Paris in an attempt to find closure. "The World Cup provided me with a driver, and on my first night in the City of Light I asked him if he knew the tunnel where my mother ...I watched his eyes in the rearview, growing large. The tunnel is called Pont de l'Alma, I told him," the excerpt reads. Harry asked the driver to drive through the tunnel at 65 miles per hour, “the exact speed Mummy's (Princess Diana) car had supposedly been driving, according to police, at the time of the crash. Not 120 miles per hour, as the press originally reported.” “I'd always imagined the tunnel as some treacherous passageway, inherently dangerous, but it was just a short, simple, no-frills tunnel. No reason anyone should ever die inside it,” the excerpt further reads.Prince Harry, in his book, confessed that it was a bad idea. “It had been a very bad idea. I'd had plenty of bad ideas in my twenty-three years, but this one was uniquely ill-conceived. I'd told myself that I wanted closure, but I didn't really,” the excerpt accessed by the publication reads. In an excerpt about his mother’s demise, he mentioned that he did not receive a hug from his father following the death of Princess Diana. “Pa didn’t hug me. He wasn’t great at showing emotions under normal circumstances, how could he be expected to show them in such a crisis?,” Prince Harry writes in his memoir. “His hand did fall once more on my knee, ‘It’s going to be OK.’ That was quite a lot for him. Fatherly, hopeful, kind. And so very untrue,” it further reads. Spare, Prince Harry’s memoir is scheduled to be released on January 10. Another bombshell excerpt from the same that broke the internet mentions a scuffle that took place between the brothers about Meghan Markle.
