June 3, 2025, NEW DELHI: On Tuesday, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir sacked three government workers, including a police constable, on suspicion of being affiliated with the terrorist organizations Hizbul-Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The accused are Waseem Ahmad Khan, a junior assistant at Government Medical College in Srinagar; Ajaz Ahmed, a teacher in the school's education department; and Malik Ishfaq Naseer, a police constable.
The government of Jammu and Kashmir's General Administration Department announced that the three will be fired immediately.
In accordance with the Indian Constitution, Sinha fired over 70 overground personnel and terrorist associates from government positions between August 2020, when he assumed office, and 2024.
Meanwhile, the new firings occur over a month after the horrific terrorist incident in Union territory at Pahalgam. 26 individuals, including 25 tourists and a local, were killed by terrorists supported by Pakistan on April 22 in the Baisaran valley of Pahalgam.
In response, India launched Operation Sindoor early on May 7 to target terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The adversaries with nuclear weapons engaged in combat as a result.
A truce was declared when Islamabad contacted New Delhi on May 10 to request an end to the fighting.
