Tensions between the AIADMK and the BJP appeared to have reached a flashpoint on Monday when a senior Dravidian party leader said there was no alliance with the saffron outfit and that any decision on an electoral pact would be taken only during the elections.
On BJP state chief K Annamalai's criticism of Dravidian user C N Annadurai, senior AIADMK leader D Jayakumar said his party workers will not tolerate insults from the late chief minister.
He said that while Annamalai made critical remarks about AIADMK leaders, including the late J Jayalalithaa, the party tried to restrain the BJP leader.
"Annamalai does not want to join AIADMK even though the BJP workers do. Should we bring all these criticisms against our leaders. Why should we carry you? BJP cannot set foot here. Your voice bank is known. You are known to us," the former minister told reporters here, taking a swipe at the BJP and its state leader.

"We can no longer tolerate (criticism from leaders). As for the union, there is none. BJP is not with AIADMK. (issue) can only be decided during elections. This is our position," he said.
Asked if this was his personal opinion, Jayakumar said, “Have I ever spoken to you in this capacity? I'm just talking about what the party decides."
