A deputation of J&K Private Schools Association (PSA) led by its General Secretary, Ajay Gupta called on Hirdesh Kumar, Commissioner/ Secretary, School Education Department and apprised him about various difficulties, which most of the High and Higher Secondary Schools, would face after conclusion of Academic Session 2019-20 due to delay in recognition on basis of affiliation by the School Education Department.

Gupta briefed the Secretary that the School Education Department granted recognition /extension on basis of affiliation vide government order in favour of only 69 High /Higher Secondary institutions of Jammu Division after a lapse of more than a year. Most of the private schools, which were granted affiliation by the State Affiliation Committee since January 2019, are still deprived of recognition /extension and the delay in recognition on basis of affiliation by the department would create problems for private schools by concerned CEOs while confirmation of result for academic session 2019-20 (Winter/Summer Zone) as done in preceding years.

Gupta also informed the Secretary that due to the non-availability of Chairman, Fee Fixation Committee, whose tenure lapsed on July 2019, all low budget private schools are in a fix what to do and what not to do for approval/ enhancement of fee for new academic session 2020-21.
Members present in the meeting demanded immediate recognition /extension on basis of affiliation before closer of academic session 2019 -20. They also appealed for appointment of a Chairman, Fee Fixation Committee to save the venture from harassment and exploitation at the hands of administration and parents.
