The Delhi government has decided to extend its existing excise duty policy by six months as it takes time to develop a new liquor trading system, officials said on Thursday.

A senior officer said the exercise has been extended till March 31, 2024 after the approval of the Delhi government and the lieutenant governor.

The Excise Board's proposal to extend the policy, which came into effect on September 1 last year, was sent to the local government after its approval by the government. The file was returned to the government from the LG's office marked "seen," the police added.
